We watched them in awe as they replenished the buffet and tended to clients with extreme politeness and unsurpassable service. Special recognition to Callum, Nicolette and Ciaran. The service from the staff is what makes this place a 10/10. Breakfast was superb with a wonderful buffet and well-rounded choice of hot courses. The food at The Crown was platinum standard, fresh produce and interesting choices. We were in a quintessentially British hideaway. We dined at The Crown, by the waterside with the stream, beautiful flora and Fauna and people playing cricket on the field nearby. I slept like a baby in the comfortable bed. The room was simply stunning, with a plethora of wonderful touches, chocolates in the room, sloe gin, full size very good quality toiletries. I had a few questions before arrival and they were answered by the superb Connie and Lily literally within a minute! Arrival was welcoming and felt like we were staying somewhere so relaxing with polished service. I would stay in the hotel again.…Ībsolute gem of a find, I recommend this hotel with 5 star confidence to anyone wanting fantastic food, beautiful decor, exquisite service and fabulous finishing touches. The location is good - we took a walk to Cirencester which was about 1.5hr away through the fields. As a side note we also ate in the restaurant for dinner which was very good. We had breakfast in the main restaurant which was very nice and we were able to order from the main menu (any item) as well as a continental offering. pillows, tea, hair dryer etc.My feelings towards this are mixed as it was not fully stocked for the duration of our visit. There was a common storage cupboard where additional amenities were available e.g. We had a tv which came equipped with airplay and netflix. We had a good size bath in the room which was a nice addition! The bed itself was very comfortable. The shower room is a good size offering a powerful shower. The room itself was well appointed offering all the expected amenities. We were welcomed with a drink on arrival and the reception staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. If we went again I would ask for a room that overlooks the brook rather than the terrace which can get a bit noisy on an evening.… There is a lovely outside seating area by the brook which is very pretty. Restaurant staff especially Adam were very friendly. We ate in the restaurant every night and the food was good and they had an excellent choice of gluten free food which my husband needs. Housekeeping every day with clean towels ( not sure if they were taking extra care of us). Putting all that aside we did have a lovely stay. Why they felt the need to try and accommodate their guests in a smelly room is beyond me. Luckily they had another room which was fine and odour free as there was no way you could have stayed in The Owl. We were then offered a 30% discount or they would try and find us another room. When we walked in you could immediately smell dirty drains! After complaining to the person on reception we were told they were aware there was a problem with our room and apologised. When we arrived we were shown to our room called The Owl. Ampney Crucis Cheap Pet Friendly Hotels.
